The Qualcomm-based modules are able to be upgraded and downgraded between firmware versions and across carrier configuration files. This video walks through how to perform this operation using the QMI Lite SDK, which is a standalone application, using an MC74 module. It is applicable to all of our EM, MC, RC and WP families of units.

In some applications, the ability to know the location of the unit without powering up a GPS is useful. Using the method shown in this video, an application can perform a geolocation operation through the use of a pure cell ID. This is demonstrated using the WP7607, which is a 2G/3G/4G module. However, any module can be used.

Several of the Qualcomm based modules that Sierra Wireless produce have the ability to store multiple firmware and carrier (i.e. Vodafone, Verizon, Docomo, etc.) configuration files. This video shows how to manage and switch between these firmware and carrier configuration files.
