This document describes methods (excluding FOTA) for upgrading HL78 Series firmware images.

The CF3 concept introduced by Sierra Wireless, and its companion product the snap-in socket, are a significant step forward in enabling the user to test multiple types of units on a single board. The snap-in socket, when handled correctly, is a robust and flexible tool to enable this but it does need to be handled properly with units being inserted and removed correctly. Otherwise it can result in fatal damage to the lid, socket, and potentially the unit. This video walks through this process to make sure the correct procedure is applied.

In some applications, the ability to know the location of the unit without powering up a GPS is useful. Using the method shown in this video, an application can perform a geolocation operation through the use of a pure cell ID. This is demonstrated using the WP7607, which is a 2G/3G/4G module. However, any module can be used.
