This document describes the Universal SL Development Kit and how it integrates with the AirPrime SL Series Embedded Wireless Module via a socket board. It discusses the different interface and peripheral connections supported by the AirPrime SL Development Kit and provides schematics.

Data communication from Sierra Wireless modules is done through the Data layer, which is a part of the firmware. AirPrime module support both Fax class 1 and class 2. They are implemented as a library in the Data layer. The Fax library manages all Fax related operations for the module.

This application note describes how to power ON and power OFF the AirPrime module’s SIM interface for SIM electrical tests (GSM11.11).
