RC76xx Firmware Release 10.0

Contains methods that can be used to install pre-built image on RC76xx modules.

Release 10.0 brings these significant security improvements to the RC76xx series:

  • Shared key or credentials are now stored in a more protected and secure TZ4.0 enabled IoT Keystore.
  • Anti-FW rollback mechanism prevents the firmware from downgrading to a potentially more vulnerable version in case attackers get physical access to a device.
  • USB NMEA format data can now be transmitted through the UART interface.
  • Firmware is strengthened by modem and Legato enhancements.

RC76xx firmware is available:

  • As pre-built images ready for installation on Windows or Linux hosts. See the installation guides below.

Installing Firmware Release 10.0 Updates 

The following methods can be used to install pre-built images on RC76xx modules:

'One-click' tool
  1. Download the latest USB driver and run the executable file.
  2. Download the Firmware 'one-click' (.exe) file of the desired carrier from its link below:

    R10.0 (Generic - GCF and PTCRB): RC7611, RC7611-1
    R10.0 (Generic - GCF and PTCRB): RC7612
    R10.0 (Generic - GCF): RC7620, RC7620-1
    R10.0 (AT&T): RC7611, RC7611-1
    R10.0 (AT&T): RC7612
    R10.0 (Verizon): RC7611, RC7611-1
    R10.0 (T-Mobile): RC7611, RC7611-1
    R10.0 (KDDI): RC7630, RC7630-1

  3. Connect the device (i.e. mangOH) to the host by USB cable.
  4. Run the firmware executable (.exe) and follow the instructions.

  1. Download the Firmware (.SPK) file according to the preference of carrier configuration (Note: if the preference of carrier configuration is not listed or you are not quite sure which carrier shall be selected please select the Generic FW.

Instructions with AirVantage IoT Cloud
 1. On AirVantage, monitor the system to be updated.
2. Select More > Install Bundle.
3. Select the desired firmware bundle.
4. Start the install procedure. The operation will now be "In progress" state and visible in the System Operations widget.
